Cannabis Consciousness and the Environment: Conversation with Community

Episode 4:

Celebrating the Modern NY Cannabis Cultivation Movement 4/22/22 at 6:00pm

NY Small Farma invites you to the next episode of our speaker series Cannabis, Consciousness, and the Environment : Conversations with Community. Join us this Earth Day for a free webinar and ask your questions of the panelists! This Earth Day, we are celebrating the modern cannabis cultivation movement in New York and discussing what is ahead for social and economic equity and the environment.

Earlier this year, Governor Hochul signed into law an act creating conditional licenses for adult-use cannabis cultivators and processors. Cannabis cultivation is already underway on tribal sovereign land in the state. Join NYSF as we discuss what the conditional license means for New Yorkers, the opportunities that exist for legacy and social equity applicants, and the need for strong incubator programs. We are providing a voice to the emerging environmental consciousness in cannabis, and putting environmental concerns on the front page. Please join us with the NYSF President, Nicole Ricci, and our guest speakers, Walter Mosley and Ruben Lindo.

The Panelists:

RUBEN LINDO - Ruben is an experienced voice of reason and strong proponent for social equity in the New York state marketplace and beyond. He is the founder of Blak Mar Farms, a minority- owned and operated, multistate cultivation operation specializing in luxury craft cannabis products, and the CEO of Phoenix Nutraceutical, which houses the Aminatu CBD beauty brand and Blitz CBD sports recovery products. Lindo is also the President and CEO of Herbn Couture, a luxury cannabis events production company.

WALTER MOSLEY - The Honorable Walter T. Mosley is President and Chief Executive Officer at Mosley Advisory Group (MAG), LLC. MAG, founded in February 2020, is a government and community relations firm with a concentration of emerging markets within education, alternative energy and cannabis.

Prior to being President and CEO to MAG, Mr. Mosley represented the 57th Assembly District within the New York State legislature, representing the communities in central and downtown Brooklyn, including the neighborhoods of Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Prospect Heights and parts of Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights.

Mr. Mosley in 2019 and 2020 advocated for the legalization of adult-use cannabis in New York; through his work on criminal justice reform and decriminalization of the practice. He served as co-chair of the Assembly’s Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic and Asian Caucus’ Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Task Force. From his leadership Mr. Mosley ensured that social equity firms and businesses would have a fair opportunity to be involved in the economic rollout of the adult use cannabis industry in New York.

NICOLE RICCI - Nicole, NYSF President, is a NYer who has cultivated cannabis and made edibles for decades and is an advocate for the plant first above all else. One of her goals while serving on the Board of NYSF is to educate people about the nexus of social justice, environmental justice and the economy and to ensure the new cannabis community uplifts people, communities, and the environment. She is an ardent proponent for freeing the plant for all, bringing redress to communities most harmed by racist enforcement of the drug prohibition policies, and supporting sungrown, regenerative, small-scale cannabis. She opposes large and industrial-scale cannabis.

Tosin Ajayi (Moderator) - Tosin is a dedicated cannabis advocate, entrepreneur, and non-profit leader. In 2018, she established the CBD company, Holistic Remedies LLC, to promote cannabis wellness in her community. In 2020, she founded CannaPolicy at NYU Wagner, a graduate student group committed to advancing responsible cannabis legalization through education and advocacy. She now serves as Director of Social Equity and Advisory Chair on Community Outreach to NY Small Farma and takes pride in partnering with impact-driven cannabis organizations within New York to build an equitable and just cannabis industry for all.
